Known for bringing its distinctive Japanese dining experience to some of the world’s most sought-after destinations, globally acclaimed restaurant brand Zuma continued its international journey this summer with its first-ever pop-up in Montenegro.
Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Adriatic coast, Zuma Montenegro marked another chapter in the brand’s ability to create destination-worthy dining experiences around the world. From Ibiza and Mykonos to Dubai, Zuma has established a reputation for bringing its signature combination of contemporary Japanese cuisine, vibrant atmosphere and exceptional hospitality to the world’s most exciting travel destinations.
The decision to bring Zuma to Montenegro came at a time when the country is experiencing significant growth as an international tourism destination. In 2025, Montenegro recorded 2.73 million tourist arrivals and more than 15.3 million overnight stays, with international visitors accounting for 95.8% of all overnight stays. The country’s coastal destinations continue to dominate, accounting for 92.6% of total overnight stays.
With Montenegro increasingly attracting an international, luxury-minded audience looking beyond the traditional European summer destinations, the Zuma pop-up offered a new way to experience the destination, complementing the country’s growing luxury hospitality scene.
The residency proved hugely successful, with the majority of evenings fully booked, demonstrating the appetite for Zuma’s globally recognised dining experience in this emerging destination. Rather than simply following established summer hotspots, Zuma’s arrival in Montenegro tapped into a new generation of travellers seeking undiscovered destinations.
At its core, Zuma is a contemporary Japanese izakaya, where the art of shared dining takes centre stage. The menu is brought to life across three signature kitchens, the main kitchen, sushi counter and robata grill, with dishes designed to encourage guests to explore a variety of flavours, textures and cooking techniques throughout the meal.
Guests could enjoy some of Zuma’s most-loved signature dishes, including Black Cod, Rock Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Yellowtail Maki and Wagyu Tataki with Truffle Ponzu, alongside expertly crafted cocktails and panoramic views.
The success of Zuma Montenegro reinforces the brand’s ability to identify emerging destinations and create dining experiences that become part of the travel itinerary itself. As Montenegro continues to grow its position on the international luxury travel map, Zuma’s summer residency offered a glimpse into the next generation of European destination dining, where discovering somewhere new and experiencing exceptional food go hand in hand.
